The West Johnston High School Band Parents Association held its inaugural Classic Car Show on Saturday, March 6. The fund raiser was most successful and all in attendance experienced great weather. Nearly 70 participants along with their prized collector cars competed for awards while helping the high school band raise funds for its program.

There were many types of collector cars ranging from Ford roadsters, a 50s Ford Victoria, Monte Carlos, muscle cars like the 1st generation Camaro and Mustangs, as well as a trio of drag cars. Not really considered a classic (yet), but a 2010 Camaro SS was seen there. Our own Cleveland Community resident, Noel Lanier (and VP of the Piedmont Classic Chevy Club) brought his '68 Camaro RS/SS as well about 12 Piedmont Chevy Club members and their classic cars. Two of the Piedmont Club members, Ron Schwitz and Chris Peedin, won awards for their '34 Ford Street Rod and '66 Chevelle Malibu, respectively.

A big thanks goes out to PJ's Auto Service of Benson as the primary sponsor for the Car Show, as well as the organizers Larry Chapman and Danny Lawson. They hope for this to become an annual event.
