Diamontre Smith, age 11, has end-stage renal disease and requires ongoing peritoneal dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant. The Evans/Woodard family had a need to provide a clean room environment for his dialysis, which lasts approximately 9 hours daily. Once the need for Diamontre was identified, our small group from Hope Community Church began making contacts for help with the project. Joe Verdicchio, a District Manager at Home Depot and Anthony White, the Manager of Home Depot’s Fuquay-Varina store were interested in helping. Associates from Home Depot met with the Woodard family to review the need and in less than 24 hours, The Home Depot donated materials for the project. The next day, Home Depot associates arrived to work with members of our small group to provide expertise in installing new flooring, doors and other home improvements. This and a new Hepa air filtration unit were installed for Diamontre’s clean room environment, which is medically necessary for his dialysis. “We just want to thank Joe, Anthony and The Home Depot associates for providing so much assistance in helping us meet this need to the Woodard family,” stated Angela Heinze of Hope Community Church.
