The Fuquay-Varina Area Chamber of Commerce’ annual Day in Downtown street festival will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 27 with two stages instead of one. In recognition of the extra work involved with having two live events in separate areas of the festival, the Chamber has recruited four active volunteers to serve as Stage Managers at each venue to help with logistics.

The two morning stage managers will be Kathy Barnes Buchanan from Insurance Matters!, and Mark Loftus of Granny’s Helper. Ms. Buchanan has actively volunteered on many event committees, including the Heritage Golf Classic. She is also currently an active member of the Ambassador Committee and a member of the Professional Women’s Leadership Association. Mr. Loftus is also an active, behind-the-scenes volunteer with the Chamber and is married to Robin WellingsLoftus of Edward Jones in the Varina Retail District. Ms. WellingsLoftus is also a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The two afternoon stage managers are Stephen Peacock, owner of Peacock Creative Services, and Valerie Springle from Complete Financial Services. Mr. Peacock is a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and the chairperson of the Chamber’s marketing committee. He also co-created and co-teaches the popular Chamber 101 class that is offered to new members. Ms. Springle has served on several events committees, including the Run the Quay 5K and Core Connection Business Expo committees. She has also co-facilitated seminars on healthcare and long-term planning topics for the Chamber.

The Chamber is very excited to have all four of these very valuable volunteers working alongside staff on Saturday, Oct. 27 to help make the festival the best one yet.

Vendor applications are still available online at www.fuquay-varina.com or by calling the Chamber office at (919) 552-4947. There is still room for vendors, and the Chamber is actively still recruiting artists and crafters for the event. This year, there are separate applications for artists and businesses. Interested applicants should choose the one that best suits their product.
