Wake County Fire and Emergency Management, a Division of the Department of Public Safety, has issued a determination in the cause of a house fire on Sunday, April 29 at 128 Bridge Street in Fuquay-Varina that took the life of Leroy Dunlap, age 59 and Arthur Lee Harris, Jr., age 46. Both Fuquay-Varina Police and Fire Departments responded to the fire.
Based on examination of the fire scene, physical evidence, witness interviews and the elimination of other reasonable cause, officials have determined the fire to be accidentally caused by a portable electric space heater being place too close to ordinary combustible materials. The State Medical Examiner’s Office reports smoke inhalation was the cause of death for both men.
