Local volunteer Steve Lessard of Fuquay-Varina will be recognized for his countless hours of service to the community. On Sept. 20, local Modern Woodmen of America members will honor Steve as a hometown hero.
Lessard will be recognized through the Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Heroes Progam for his fundraising efforts to save Buddy, a dog that was abused and needed surgery and a home. As part of the program, members of the Fuquay-Varina Modern Woodmen chapter will present Lessard with a certificate and $100 award grant, to be presented to the charitable organization of the honoree’s choice. Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to connect through social activities and volunteer projects.
Local Modern Woodmen members and their guests are invited to attend this event, which will be held at Porter Farms Ice Cream Stand, Hwy 42, Willow Spring, at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20. For reservations call Susan Scarpelli at 919-605-5041 by Sept. 18.
A tax-exempt fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment products not to benefit stockholders but to improve the quality of life of its stakeholders – members, their families and communities.
