Nellie M. Carroll, 82 of Coats died Monday, November 26, 2012 at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of Henry and Carrie Howell Hall. Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands Jack UpChurch and Melzie Carroll, a brother James Hall and grandson Lee UpChurch. She was employed by the Coats Senior Center and an active volunteer for the American Legion, American Red Cross and the Harnett County Food and Nutrition Program.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Union Christian Church. Rev. Cary Snelling will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. Family will received visitors at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of Rex and Glenda Dean.

Surviving are Mrs. Carroll’s daughters, Ann UpChurch Morrison and husband Ricky of Lillington and Glenda Dean and husband Rex of Willow Springs; sons, Hartwell UpChurch and wife Adelle of Wake Forest and John UpChurch and wife Marsha of Sanford; brother, Tom Earl Hall of Lillington; seven grandchildren, Chris UpChurch, James UpChurch, Renee Rhody, Megan Dean, Austin Dean, Jason UpChurch and Matthew UpChurch and 10 great grandchildren.
