Each year during the month of March, the Town of Fuquay-Varina temporarily changes the water treatment process by suspending the use of ammonia. This disinfection process is a state-mandated practice to ensure safe drinking water.

Customers who use kidney dialysis machines and have fish aquariums should be aware that water may contain chlorine, ammonia or a mixture of the two from March 1 to April 1, 2013.

The Town also will conduct flushing of the distribution system during this time. Customers may experience a slight discoloration of their drinking water.

For more information, visit www.fuquay-varina.org/waterchanges or call 552-1408.
