Brier Creek’s Chick-fil-A will be filled with fun activities on June 9 as two local ladies host an event to celebrate their new children’s book about adoption.

Lisa Pelton and Maria Simone have co-authored a new children’s book about adoption called Logos and Adoption: Remi’s Story. The book is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2012 and is the second in a series of books written by Pelton.

“Lisa Pelton is the primary author and writes the children’s story for both books in the Logos children’s book series,” Simone said. “In the second book (Logos and Adoption: Remi’s Story), I (Maria Simone) have written a section in the back of the book entitled ‘Digging Deeper with Logos’, where I take the scriptures from the story and explain them in greater detail for adults who want to uncover the hidden treasures in God’s Word. This is a new concept in children’s books whose purpose is to reach both children and adults with God’s Truth.”

Pelton decided to begin writing this series when a friend expressed the importance of children needing to learn obedience.

“Lisa’s friend expressed a desire for a children’s book that teaches the importance of obedience to parents and to God,” Simone said. “During this time, Lisa was in the process of obedience training Logos. She realized that she and her friend were both trying to teach obedience for the same reasons: to keep their children and pets safe, and because they loved them. The Lord impressed on Lisa to use Logos as the main character in a children’s book series to teach kids principles from the Bible. And so the Logos children’s book series was born.”

The second book called Logos and Adoption: Remi’s Story, continues the story of Logos.

“This book is an adventurous children’s story featuring Logos, the fun-loving Golden Retriever who helps his friend Remi discover the true meaning of unconditional love and security through adoption,” Simone said. “The story was written not only to help adopted children feel loved and secure in the knowledge that they were specially chosen by their parents, but points to the greater truth of what it means to be adopted into the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Adoption is the heartbeat of God the Father, who longs for all people to come to Him and receive His unconditional love.”

The second book is scheduled to be released in the fall.

Although the second book has not been released yet, the two women will host a fun event at Chick-fil-A to celebrate the upcoming release. The event will feature Mimi the Melody Maker, who will be providing balloons and face painting and Logos the dog, the lovable Golden Retriever who is the star of these books. The event will be held at the Brier Creek’s Chick-fil-A from 10 a.m. until noon.

However, the event will feature more than Logos and Mimi.

“Over the last several months, local area children have entered their drawings of Logos for the second book, Logos and Adoption. The winner of the contest will be announced at this event, and the winning picture will be published in the Logos and Adoption book.”

Special prizes will also be given to the first, second and third place winners in both age categories.

Simone encourages families to go out.

“This event will be fun for the entire family!”
