Recently, the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department hosted its first pinning ceremony at Wake Chapel Church. Proud family members and friends were on hand to recognize eight firefighters that received promotions.
Pinning ceremonies are a long-time tradition within the fire service to acknowledge accomplishments within the ranks of the fire department. Badges were pinned by wives and loved ones of the honorees.
Honorees included Dustin Stanley who was promoted to Captain; Brandon Auman, Brian Heath, Josh Herring and Gabriel Rhodes were promoted to Engineer; Jerry Crocker and Steve Weaver who were promoted to Senior Firefighter; and George Gerraty who was promoted to Firefighter II.
The Department also welcomed three new recruits that completed initial training. They are Janmichael Fackrell, Brandon Mason and Robert Osburn.
Fire Chief Tony Mauldin spoke at the ceremony; he is undeniably proud of his team. During the ceremony, Chief Mauldin congratulated and encouraged all firefighters to continue learning, achieving and rising to the challenges of a career in the fire service.
