Fuquay-Varina - Jack Everett Senter, 88, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina with the Rev. Anne Ahl officiating. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Jack was born in Raleigh, to Vera Lou Williams and Everett Milton Senter and grew up in the Kipling community in Harnett County. He graduated from LaFayette High School and attended Duke University until he received a draft notice for military service. Jack served three years in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Andromeda. After leaving the Navy, he returned to college graduating from Catawba College.
On August 24, 1950, Jack married Frances Cornelia Ashworth at the Fuquay Springs Methodist Church, Fuquay Springs. They moved to Macon, Ga., where he graduated from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer, Cum Laude in 1952. In 1953, he was the founding partner of Senter, Stephenson and Johnson, PA. He practiced law and was a member of the North Carolina Bar Association for 52 years. In 1958, Jack began his tenure of 13 years as the Fuquay Springs Recorders Court Judge. He was past president of many civic organizations in Fuquay-Varina and a very active member until the past few years of The Lion’s Club. He also served the Town of Fuquay-Varina for over 20 years as Town Attorney. Jack taught Sunday School for over 50 years and up until the past few months, was able to attend Sunday School and church each week. The friends at his church were very special to him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Senter and son-in-law, Jimmy N. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Ashworth Senter; son, Jack Milton Senter and wife, Gail; daughters, Kim Senter Johnson, Fran Senter Baggs and husband, Jim, Amy Senter Pope and husband, Damon; grandchildren, Brett Senter and wife, Summer, Will Senter and wife, Melissa, Scott Johnson and wife, Amber, Adam Johnson, Jamie Baggs, Sydney Pope, Everett Pope. Nine great-grandchildren also survive.
The family received friends and family on Tuesday, May 22, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina and other times at the Senter home, 621 East Academy Street, Fuquay-Varina.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jack Senter to the First United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC, 27526.

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Community Service Program collected items for the SPCA of Wake County from the club members. The group made a delivery Jan. 28 that included eight bottles of bleach, 10 boxes of dog treats, one large container of small dog treats, various small packages of dog treats, paper towels, seven cans of canned dog food, Kitten Chow and a $25 donation.  Darci VanderSlik accepted the donations along with one of the puppies for adoption.
