Emory University senior catcher Jessica Boni of Fuquay-Varina is one of six Eagles who have been selected to the 2012 All-University Athletic Association Team. The all-league honorees were chosen by the conference coaches based on their entire play this season.

Boni was one of four Emory players to garner first-team recognition, the second straight year she has earned that distinction.

Boni, a starter in all 36 of the team’s games this year, has been rock solid behind the plate while posting a .330 hitting mark. Second on the team and tied for the No. 2 spot in the conference with 36 RBIs, Boni has six multi-hit games to her credit while driving in two or more runs on 10 occasions. Named earlier this season to the UAA All-Tournament Team, Boni has socked six homers, good for the second on the team. She hit safely in 12 of the club’s last 14 regular-season games, hitting at a .452 (19-of-42) in that stretch. On the Eagles’ career ladder, she is tied for sixth in round trippers with 12 and is ninth with 30 doubles.

Emory finished off the regular season with a 33-3 won-lost ledger and will hear on May 7 as to where and who they will be playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Jessica is a 2008 graduate of Fuquay-Varina High School.
