The beloved member of the Town of Fuquay-Varina family was injured in an accident at the Town’s Waste Water Treatment Plant this past November. After several surgeries, Hackney is recovering nicely and he hopes to be back working at the Town in the near future.
As with any unexpected situation, there are unexpected expenses. Jersey Mike’s in Fuquay-Varina has stepped forward to help the Hackney family defray some of these costs. Jersey Mike’s Manager, Stuart Boyd, approached the Town about hosting a fundraiser and when he pitched the idea to Jersey Mike’s corporate office, they suggested a week-long fundraiser.
Stuart saw the heart wrenching story of Dan’s rescue and was moved into action. He met the Hackneys for the first time in mid-December when he gave them a check for $1,500 to make sure the holidays were covered with no worries.
From Jan. 13 to 19 when customers buy anything at Jersey Mike’s, 15 percent will go to help the Hackney Family. Dine in, take out or make Jersey Mike’s a family meal one night that week.
