InterAct’s Pass It On to hold grand re-opening

Join InterAct on Oct. 26, for Pass It On’s 7th Anniversary Grand Re-Opening with the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce at 12 noon, 309 South main St., Fuquay-Varina. During this event the community can see the newly redesigned store including upscale bridal gowns, mother of the bride/groom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses and so much more. As part of the Grand Reopening Pass It On will feature a 10 percent of coupon for use over the weekend and raffle tickets will be available for great items donated by local merchants. InterAct ambassadors will be out and about in the crowd on Saturday during Day In Downtown handing out flyers and selling raffle tickets.

On Saturday, October 27,2012, Pass it On will be featured at Day In Downtown on the main stage at 1:15 p.m. as they host a fashion show. This show will feature local models as well as Miss Pembrooke Outstanding Teen Elizabeth OBrien, Miss Spiveys Corner Mary Catherine Tucker, Miss Spivey Corner Outstanding Teen Ava Taylor Mumford and Miss Selma Railroad Days Meredith Lindsey. All clothes that are being modeled are featured at Pass It On and available for sale.

Pass It On is an upscale thrift store that sells new and used women’s and children’s clothing and accessories and is located in the heart of downtown Fuquay-Varina. InterAct operates the Pass It On thrift store as a way to empower victims and survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault as well as to help cover costs of counseling services for families impacted by domestic and sexual violence. The store offers great deals for bargain shoppers and accepts donations from individuals and businesses.

For more than 34 years, InterAct has served Wake County and its twelve municipalities as the only provider of comprehensive services for all victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. InterAct provides three 24-hour crisis lines dedicated to domestic violence and sexual assault, group and individual counseling, bilingual counseling, specialized children’s counseling, case management, court and hospital advocacy, professional training, and a full curriculum of violence prevention in Wake County public schools in grades 3-12. InterAct also operates Wake County’s only residential program for women and children fleeing abuse, as well as North Carolina’s first community-based sexual assault forensic examination center: The Solace Center.

Women’s Club shares the ‘puppy’ love

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Community Service Program collected items for the SPCA of Wake County from the club members. The group made a delivery Jan. 28 that included eight bottles of bleach, 10 boxes of dog treats, one large container of small dog treats, various small packages of dog treats, paper towels, seven cans of canned dog food, Kitten Chow and a $25 donation.  Darci VanderSlik accepted the donations along with one of the puppies for adoption.
