The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club and GFWC Junior Club had three student winners for the State of North Carolina at the March State Arts Festival.
Tye Mikles, a senior at Harnett Central High School, won first place with his paper craft. Many similar pieces have been entered previously, but Mikles placed a frame around his three-way view called “Magician-Serpent.” The judges were quite impressed with this piece.
Arianna Pappas, a junior at Southern Wake Academy, was awarded first place in graphics. Her piece actually pictured friends in her graphics class and was judged to be exceptionally well done.
The third winner was Alice Sterling, a senior at Middle Creek High School. Alice presented a delicate face in water color, which seemed to be a self portrait.
The Woman’s Clubs were quite honored to have these three students represent Fuquay-Varina.
