Fuquay-Varina’s Ashley ‘s Art Gallery hosts North Carolina artist and conservationist, William Mangum, with an opening reception on Feb. 9 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. This spectacular reception debuts Mangum’s newest premier original watercolor paintings, limited editions, along with his most recent book “North Carolina Beautiful.”

“We’re thrilled to have William Mangum back in our gallery to discuss his awesome collection of new paintings featuring some of North Carolina’s most stunning landmarks and landscapes,” said gallery owner Rick Mullen. “In addition, William has offered to put on a live painting demonstration, revealing his painting techniques.”

The reception is free and open to the public.

Also, in an effort to help keep the community improving, the gallery will hold a silent auction for a framed “Best Friends” Mangum print. It portrays a casual collection of beautiful pottery in Ben Owen’s studio at Seagrove. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association. Since 1999, this superb non-profit group has provided assistance to the business and residential historic districts of our town.

Mangum, one of the most popular and respected watercolor artists in the region, is a native of North Carolina. He and his wife, Cynthia, have lived in Greensboro for 30 years, where they raise three children. He received his Associate in Arts degree from Sandhills Community College and a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Ashley Art Gallery has been named “National Gallery of the Year” by Greenwich Workshop. The Gallery also exhibits work from the most sought-after and award-winning regional and international emerging artists today.
