Celebrate My Drive is one special day for the Triangle community to rally around and support teens everywhere as they learn to drive and get ready for the road ahead. Thousands of teens in hundreds of communities everywhere will gather on Sept. 15 to celebrate the milestone of getting a driver’s license and committing to staying safe.

As a result of nearly a decade of research, State Farm is changing the conversation and debuting a new, more-positive approach to teen driver safety. A 2008 analysis of nearly 30 different studies found that positive messages are more engaging long term to the message recipient. Focusing on what teens can do empowers teens and holds promise in breaking through with today’s young motorists. Crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens, and the first year of driving is the most dangerous. As the nation’s leading auto insurer, State Farm is committed to preventing teen crashes, reducing injuries and saving lives.

State Farm is partnering with Street Safe, Fuquay-Varina Fire Department, Durham Highway Volunteer Fire Department’s Safety Day, and local high schools to host Celebrate My Drive. Teens will have a chance to win a new car and schools can win a $100,000 grant.

The local Celebrate My Drive event will take place at Kohl’s from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Kohl’s is located at 640 Lakestone Commons Avenue in Fuquay-Varina.
