Rusty Martin, Jr. has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, pending a Board of Review.
Rusty Martin, Jr. has been awarded the Eagle Scout Award upon completion of his Board of Review. Martin is a ventuer with Venturing Crew 75 in the Occoneechee Council and the Boy Scouts of America. This award is granted to scouts and venturers, after completing 21 merit badges and an extensive service project, plus several hours of community service and unquestionable moral character.
Martin himself, through his career as an actor, has shown great accomplishment. Through his continued service to God, his country and other people, he has followed the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Starring in the movie “Courageous” and several more in the future, Martin is delivering on those principals.
As President of Venture Crew 75, he led the crew in several High Adventure and local excursions, with the culmination of his Eagle service project. He chose to build three movable benches for the American Legion Post 116. The benches have been a great addition to a very active Legion.
Since the first Eagle Scout Award was awarded in 1912 to Arthur Eldred, there has been 2,151,024 Boys that have earned the nation’s top respected award. The first 100 young men to receive the award took only 36 months to obtain the rank. By 1914, scouts from 19 states had obtained the rank.
The Award has produced some of our nation’s most notable leaders. Of the 312 pilots and scientists selected as astronauts since 1959, at least 207 have been scouts or have been active in scouting. Of the 24 men to travel to the moon on the Apollo 8 and Apollo 10 through 17 missions, 20 were scouts, including 11 of the 12 moonwalkers and all three members of the Apollo 13 crew.
Venture Crew 75 is a High Adventure Unit for young men.
