Celebrate with friends and family Saturday at the Garden Hut’s 10th annual Holiday Open House.

Trees from designer Calvin Watts will be on display, including themes like nature lovers, pets, sock monkeys, beach, wine and many more. Also, find holiday flags in garden and standard sizes.

Holiday and wine tasting parties can be booked at the event as well.

Door prizes will be given out and food from the kitchen of Barbara Cox will be available.

The Garden Hut will be collecting donations for the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry again this year beginning at the open house and the shop will remain a drop-off site through the end of the year. Canned and nonperishable items are wlecome.

Women’s Club shares the ‘puppy’ love

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Community Service Program collected items for the SPCA of Wake County from the club members. The group made a delivery Jan. 28 that included eight bottles of bleach, 10 boxes of dog treats, one large container of small dog treats, various small packages of dog treats, paper towels, seven cans of canned dog food, Kitten Chow and a $25 donation.  Darci VanderSlik accepted the donations along with one of the puppies for adoption.
