A celebration of life service was conducted at the Fuquay-Varina American Legion, located at 6400 Johnson Pond Road, Sunday July 22, for fellow legionnaire and retired Air Force TSGT, Chester “Chet” Arbnott, Jr., who died July 17, 2012 at the age of 72. Upon turning into the driveway, a flag line of 35 Legion Riders stood at attention and presented the colors, giving attendees a sense of honor and respect for their fallen comrade. Legion Riders Director and Post Service Officer Eric Ellerman said, “It was an honor for us to participate in this service. It was our last chance to do something for Chester.”
Past Chaplain, Mike Triplette, presided over the service. First Baptist Church Fuquay-Varina Pastor, Dr. Reginald Lowery, shared scripture and words of encouragement to the family. Family members and friends shared memories and experiences they had had with Chet. At the conclusion of the service, an honor guard of legionnaires conducted a flag folding ceremony, and Post Commander Lee Johnson presented the flag to Mrs. Arbnott.
