Saturday, April 28 marked the 50th wedding anniversahy of the marriage of Shirley Caldwell Jones and Edward Jones of Fuquay-Varina. The celebration was held at Pine Acres Community Center, 402 McLean Street, Fuquay-Varina, from 1 t0 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, 50 years to the day.

Friends and family gathered at the center from as far south as Alcolu, Charleston and Fort Mill, South Carolina and from as far north as the Bronx and Manhattan, New York.

The wedding party consisted of the bride Shirley C. Jones, the groom Edward Jones, the maid/matron of honor, (then and again) Eloise C. Graham, Fayetteville, bride’s sister; the best man (then and again) Kenneth Singleton, Charleston, S.C., the groom’s cousin; the honorary bridemaids Elder Myrtle Burks, Fayetteville, Loretta Franklin Davis, Alcolu, S.C.; and Judy Boney Frederick, Holly Springs. Three generations of bridemaids included the couple’s daughter, Robin Deirdre Jones, her daughter Taiisha Monique Jones and her daughter, Zamariya Dashawn Jones (8).

The groomsmen were Matthew Darwin Graham, Fayetteville, bride’s nephew; Maurice Jones and Tony Donell Underwood, couple’s son-in-law, both of Fuquay-Varina. Honorary flower girl was (then) Lavern Lynise Davis, Manhattan, N.Y.; flower girl (now) Little Leah Marsh (6), daughter of Elke and Mark Walton, Fuquay-Varina. The ringbearer was Master Zymiere Emanuel Baker (3), Cary, couple’s great-grandson.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her grandson, Syris Deangelo Jones, and given in marriage by son, Jason Randall Jones, both of Fuquay-Varina.

The bride wishes to take this opportunity to apologize to the many she intended to invite, who were overlooked giving to the invitation committee.

The ceremony was catered by Andrew Jones, Jr., Fayetteville. The cake was of wedding cake white batter, with fillings of lemon and fresh strawberries, with cascading red roses lovingly constructed, at bride’s instructions, by the baker at Lowe’s Foods, Holly Springs.

Decorations were beautifully done under the supervision of Shelia Renee Walton of Raleigh, and Brookie Williams Jones, couple’s daughter-in-law Fuquay-Varina. Shelia Walton, also, directed procession of the wedding party.

The music was rendered by evangelist Michelle Burks, Fayetteville. Michelle has completed her first cd project entitled “Exposed in Christ“ which will debut June 3, at 4 p.m. at the Ambiance of Fayetteville, 2510 Legion Road, Fayetteville. The bride and groom performed a beautiful rendition of “Because”.

The couple was reunited by Minister Drew King, Durham.
