The Town of Fuquay-Varina has formed a Relay for Life Team called Team Fuquay-Varina. Each year, nearly four million people in more than 20 countries take part in Relay for Life and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.

Last year with the public’s generous help, Team Fuquay-Varina raised $1,500 to fight cancer.

The team is comprised of town staff, elected officials, members of the Fuquay-Varina Chamber, Downtown Fuquay-Varina businesses and the Beta Club from Fuquay-Varina Middle School. Everyone is invited to join.

Unfortunately, everyone has been touched by cancer, but Team Fuquay-Varina is taking action to fight against the disease that has taken too much.

Join Team Fuquay-Varina for two barbecue fundraisers this spring. All money raised will go to help fight cancer.

On Friday, downtown will be the hub of activity with the En Plein Air Paint-off, Cruise-In and Spring for the Arts events. Make sure to drop by the Team Fuquay-Varina barbecue booth, located on Vance Street from 5 to 8:30 p.m., and enjoy a plate that includes a sandwich, coleslaw, chips and a drink for $8.

The Team’s second fundraiser will be on May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall, located at 401 Old Honeycutt Road, in the dirt parking lot behind the building.

This fundraiser will feature Johnny Jones’ famous barbecue. Each plate includes a barbecue sandwich, coleslaw, chips and a drink for $8. For this event, pre-orders of 10 or more plates can be delivered. For pre-orders, call Teresa at 919-567-3907. Otherwise, just drop by Town Hall on May 10.
