One of the first things customers see upon entering Margaret Joyner’s new Fuquay Varina print shop, I Printz Designz, is a large American flag painted on the left-side wall. The painting reflects Joyner’s mission for her shop.

“American-made goods, giving back to the American population.”

Joyner opened I Printz Designz on April 1, and specializes in personalizing products.

“I do screen printing, embroidery, trophies…anything you can put your name on,” Joyner said.

I Printz Designz is Joyner’s first store front shop. She started by selling shirts out of the trunk of her car, then went to work as print shop employee in Lumberton. She later decided she wanted to strike out on her own, and began running a print design business from her home in Lillington.

“I’ve always loved to draw and [do] graphics,” she said.

Joyner said that working from home required her to reach out to businesses person-to-person, as well as let customers come into her house to see her wares, the latter of which she was uncomfortable with.

She said that with a storefront business, “they could come to me.”

Joyner also said she wanted a store front so she could maintain “an increased visual appearance to my community.”

Joyner enjoys having her own business in her own space.

“I’ve been in business for a long time. Now I’m doing my own thing. I’ve wanted to open my own store front for five years,” Joyner said.

Joyner has printed T-shirts for the Harnett County Academic All-Stars and Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as well as promotional materials for Relay for Life. She also makes business cards, invitations, brochures and door hangers, among other things.

Joyner emphasized the connection between American production and job creation, which is why she boasts made-in-America products.

She will have plenty to keep her busy in the near future.

“I just got a big inventory of all-sterling jewelry,” she said.

I Printz Designz is located at 107 South Main Street. It is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its phone number is 919-909-7922.
