50-210 celebrates community at Fireman’s Day

The 50/210 Community Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will be sponsoring a firemen’s day on Saturday, September 8 from 10:00 a.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and free of charge. 50/210 Community Volunteer Fire Department is located at 50 Greenleaf Road Angier, NC or just south of the intersection of Hwy 210 & Hwy 50 on Hwy. 50 South.

Plates of BBQ chicken and the fixin’s will be served throughout the day for $7.00 per plate beginning at 10:00 a.m. In addition to the BBQ chicken plates, hot dogs and drinks will also be sold from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eat in at the fire department and visit with your neighbors or take it home and enjoy.

A bounce house and a fire fighting simulation game for the kids will be available free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a bake sale during the day. Homemade baked goods such as cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. along with bottled water, chips and suckers will be available for sale during the day.

Starting around 6:30 p.m., the Ladies Auxiliary will hold an auction. Homemade baked goods and other items will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Come out and see what’s available and purchase some homemade baked goods. The fire department has always been composed of community members who volunteer much time and effort to serve the needs of the community.

Women’s Club shares the ‘puppy’ love

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Community Service Program collected items for the SPCA of Wake County from the club members. The group made a delivery Jan. 28 that included eight bottles of bleach, 10 boxes of dog treats, one large container of small dog treats, various small packages of dog treats, paper towels, seven cans of canned dog food, Kitten Chow and a $25 donation.  Darci VanderSlik accepted the donations along with one of the puppies for adoption.
