As we have all come to see Fuquay-Varina’s growth, Bill Akins, owner of Akins Properties saw the same potential in the Varina District and pursued the opportunity to expand the growth in Fuquay-Varina. He recently opened The Brick Bar and Grill located at 213 Fayetteville Street.

Saturday, June 30, the bar had its grand opening. Even though the grill will not be open until mid July, the bar is open. Everyday they feature new drink and food specials. At night The Brick Bar and Grill turns into a private club. You have to obtain a membership or be accompained by someone who has a membership in order to enter The Brick Bar and Grill after 6 p.m. There is no membership required if you go before 6pm. The membership is an annual fee of $10.

Bill Akins and his partner, Tim Parks, have really been working hard to make this venue space popular to the public. They completed a three month project in three weeks. “We did very good on the finished project,” Bill Akins exclaims, “I like the up scale looks to it and the openness. The best way to put it is, simple but elegant.”

There will be many special nights hosted by The Brick Bar and Grill:

  • Monday- Carmine Croner will be performing a one man show
  • Tuesday- Alternate between open mike and comedy night.
  • Wednesday- Ladies night and karaoke night.
  • Thursday- Poker night/poker leagues.
  • Friday and Saturday- Featuring live music and bands.
  • Sunday- NFL game night (once the pre-season starts in August).

The Brick Bar and Grill welcomes all ages. There will be live entertainment for families during lunch hours, (noon-6 p.m.) and later accomidating an older crowd as it becomes an adult orientated club.

Bill Akins took into consideration the safety of his clientele and has added security measures and well lit areas outside The Brick Bar and Grill so people can get to and from their cars safely late at night.

The Varina Sports Bar used to occupy the venue space before The Brick Bar and Grill opened. The Brick Bar and Grill is a brand new business with brand new owners. Akins said it is a great way to enhance the surrounding businesses and keep the money in Fuquay-Varina. People can spend their money in the Fuquay-Varina community by having dinner and listen to live music instead of having to drive out to Raleigh. “We look forward to having people from the Fuquay-Varina community and surrounding communities come in and enjoy,” Bill added.

Watch for the grand opening of the grill at The Brick Bar and Grill. You can reach The Brick Bar and Grill at 919-577-5575 or you can find them on Facebook. You can also visit their website at thebrickbar.net.
