Chamber gears up for Annual Christmas Parade

Yes, it’s that time of year again, and while the Halloween decorations are still in store windows and the holiday banners have yet to appear on the telephone poles downtown, the Chamber is already hard at work preparing for the annual Fuquay-Varina Christmas parade. Held on the first Sunday of December, this year’s event will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 on Main Street by David Anthony’s, and end at the corner of Vance Street and Academy Street by Williford Funeral Home.

The parade brings with it much pomp and circumstance, with a grand marshal, classic cars, an array of marching bands and dance studios, and of course all the civic organization entries and commercial floats. Everyone who is anyone is out on the streets of Fuquay-Varina to see the sights and watch for Santa to arrive on his sleigh at the end of the parade!

The Chamber is also happy to announce that Sheetz will be the Santa Sponsor for this year’s parade, and as such will be featured on the Santa float at the end of the parade. Eight or nine other float sponsorships are available this year as well. Interested businesses and organizations can call the Chamber at (919) 552-4947 for more information about this opportunity.

Entries for the parade will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. No late entries will be accepted this year due to the timing of the Thanksgiving holiday. Entry applications can be downloaded from the Chamber website at www.fuquay-varina.com (look for the parade logo on the right side of the homepage).

So, plan to join the Chamber and the Town on the streets of Fuquay-Varina on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. and kick off the holidays in grand style! For more information about parade entries or line-up times, please call the Chamber of Commerce at 552-4947.
