The Chamber of Commerce has started buzzing with activity, putting in motion the preparations for our annual “Day in Downtown: A Fall Arts & Crafts Festival” on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fuquay Retail District. This is an annual family-friendly event where people of all ages can enjoy free entertainment, find out about local artists and businesses, eat all kinds of foods, see old friends, and more. Children can look forward to the fun events we have planned, which include: a bouncy house, a tent for kids to make their own Halloween masks, a train to ride, a costume contest, stages for bands,
demonstrations of martial arts, dancing, and more.
The event will kick off with a parade of classic cars when the Fuquay Cruisers Car Club members leave Campbell’s Diner at 9:45 a.m. The parade will wind down US 401 (Main Street), turning right on Academy Street, left on Spring Street, and another left on First Street. These magnificent vehicles will then be parked by their owners along Main Street for viewing by the public. Residents can reminisce about cars they have owned in the past or just enjoy the wide variety of classic cars.
The owners love to answer questions about their vehicles and their history and the work that has been done to restore them to their former glory. A DJ with music and a tent from a local radio station will be positioned nearby for our entertainment.
So, join us for “Day in Downtown” this year, and come early to see the parade! Watch the Fuquay-Varina Independent for a schedule of events, to be published the week before the event, and plan your day around food, festivities, and art.
