Take a stroll on the frightening side! This walk in the park won’t be like any other. The Fuquay-Varina Parks & Recreation Department will host a Haunted Trail on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park (CHEEP) located at 301 Wagstaff Road in Fuquay-Varina.
Student volunteers from Fuquay-Varina High School, Fuquay-Varina Middle School and Southern Wake Academy have volunteered as actors and guides along the trail. The program joins a list of youth programming launched in recent years by the Town of Fuquay-Varina. For the past two years, the Town has hosted Teen Day Fuquay, a drunk and distracted driving program targeted at teens, which has garnered strong youth volunteer support and rave reviews. This winter, youth recreational sports will spring into full-court action with the inaugural season of basketball and dance. “Providing strong youth programs are a top priority in Fuquay-Varina,” said Parks & Recreation Director Woody Harvey. “Creating opportunities for volunteerism and fun are important to engaging our young folks.”
Family Fright, appropriate for families with younger children, will begin at 6 p.m. Full Fright, which will be scarier, will take place from 7-9 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The Haunted Trail is free, but remember it will contain scary stuff, so enter at your own risk! This is an outdoor activity with low lighting so remember to wear appropriate shoes, preferably tennis shoes and dress for the weather.
