This Saturday, teens will have the chance to test their skills at the Drive Wise Course at Teen Day Fuquay. The program, an alcohol and distracted driving awareness program sponsored by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, will be held at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to teens ages 11 to 18. Parents are welcome, too. The Drive Wise Course includes 10 activities designed to drive home the realities of mixing driving with alcohol or texting. The first 300 teens to complete the Drive Wise Course will get a free Teen Day t-shirt. The Drive Wise Course includes an obstacle course, driving simulator, BATmobile, simulated rescue, pedal carts, seat-belt demonstration, a quiz and pledge not to drink and drive.

In addition to the Drive-Wise Course, there will be a concert beginning at 1 p.m. featuring Lauren Light, a Rock Wall and with a parent’s written permission (available at www.teendayfuquay.com on the You Need This page), participants can ride the Seat Belt Convincer, which is sure to convince even the most stubborn that seat belts save lives. Teens can get a tattoo (completely washable) at the Tattoo Parlor or learn how to make the Wisdom Knot featured in the Teen Day logo at a special tent set-up for this activity.

Everything is free. Teens must sign-in to get a lunch ticket and sign-up for door-prizes which include two IPods, several gift cards and a $100 visa card. Prizes are for teens only and winners must be present to collect prizes.

Teen Day Fuquay is made possible through a Wake County Alcoholic Control Board grant.
