Current Miss Greater Cape Fear Lacey Truelove attends Methodist University and Miss Greater Cape Fear’s Outstanding Teen Shannon Melvin attends Union High School.
The Miss America organization is the largest contributor of awards and scholarships to young women with more than $43 million given last year. And there are plenty of local pageants for girls and young women, including the Miss Greater Cape Fear pageant.
The Miss division is open to young ladies, ages 17 to 24, and our Outstanding Teen is for ages 13 to 17. Both will continue on to the Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in June to be held in Raleigh.
There also is a young girls division now for ages 3 to 12. There are six titles in the Miss Greater Cape Fear Outstanding Little Miss Pageant. The pageant contestants raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network.
The Miss Greater Cape Fear organization is proud of its representatives who are involved in community service projects.
