Windsor Point Retirement Community competed and won in a chef competition at the 2nd Annual Share to Care Gala for Guiding Lights at the new Contemporary Art Museum in downtown Raleigh. Guiding Lights is a non-profit Caregiver Support Center in Raleigh. Their mission is to be the comprehensive caregiver support center for family and professional caregiving in the Triangle by assisting caregivers in obtaining relevant, timely and comprehensive information.
Eight Triangle area communities provided the food for the evening while showing off their best tasting treats and competing for the top honors of The Silver Spoon Award or The People’s Choice Award. The eight communities were Alta Oakridge, The Oaks at Whitaker Glen, Waltonwood, Woodland Terrace, Sunrise of Cary, The Heritage of Raleigh, Rex Healthcare, and Windsor Point Retirement Community. The competition was stiff with an assortment of great tasting hors d’oeuvres and desserts ranging from Chicken Wellington to Chocolate Mousse.
Windsor Point Retirement Community of Fuquay-Varina was the winner of The People’s Choice Award with a Caramel Apple Bread Pudding and a Savory London Broil created and cooked by Windsor Point Chef Cecilia Medlin and served by Windsor Point Dining Room Manager Brad Vuncannon. Windsor Point is very proud of their top honor and plans to compete in the Share to Care event again next year to preserve their title.
