The Fuquay-Varina Middle School Athletic Boosters sponsored a “Dinner For A Week” raffle during basketball season. With the purchase of a $2 ticket, you were eligible to win gift cards from seven local restaurants. April Wheeler was the winner and she was presented with the prizes from Vice President, Shannon Rowland. Derek McLean won the consolation prize of a $20 gift card from Smithfield’s Chicken & Barbecue.
April will get to choose from a large variety of meal choices for a week. The local Harris Teeter Deli gives her the choices like rotisserie chicken, soups, salads and desserts to take home to her family for a great dinner together. Andy’s Restaurant offers her burgers of all kinds, specialty sandwiches such as cheesesteak, a shrimp burger, grilled cheese, hotdogs, chicken, salads and milkshakes to top it off.
Smithfield’s Chicken & Barbecue will feed the whole family one night with choices of barbecue sandwiches, barbecue plates, potato salad, slaw, baked and fried chicken and even desserts.
Cooleys Restaurant offers April appetizers, steaks, seafood, soups, salads, wraps, burgers and homemade desserts such as keylime pie, peanut butter pie, and an award winning, lemon pound cake.
Hibachi and Company, new in Fuquay-Varina, offers lunch specials each day that are perfect for a quick, delicious affordable meal. Entrees with chicken, filet mignon, shrimp, grouper, endless veggies and even a kids meals are offered.
Bull Feather’s will load April’s family up on nachos, sliders, quesadillas, soups and of course, wings with their choice of sauces such as “your lips are gonna burn” and “beyond scorching”!
A favorite of April’s that she received is from Joyce And Family Restaurant. Joyce has been satisfying locals for years with her fried chicken, collards, chicken pastry, pork chops, macaroni and cheese, many vegetable choices, cakes and homemade banana pudding.
The middle school boosters appreciate the support from these local restaurants. Money from the raffle helps the athletic boosters purchase uniforms, equipment for various sports and meet needs that county funding cannot cover.
The Athletic Boosters are also planning and organizing the 2012 eighth grade dance that will be held on June 1 from 6-8 p.m. Volunteers are still needed to plan, decorate and assist with the event. Contact the school at 557-2727 or email fvmsboosters@gmail.com to help make this a success.
