On Sunday afternoon, July 22, Wake County will offer a four -hour course on home firearm safety at the County’s Firearms Education and Training Center in the Apex-Holly Springs area. A NRA-certified course, the Home Firearm Safety Course presents the basic knowledge and skills for the safe handling and storing of pistols, rifles, and shotguns so that unauthorized individuals cannot access them.

“This course is particularly good for new shooters, but it is also for people who do not own a gun. Spouses and young adults who live in homes where firearms are available can certainly benefit from the course,”

explains Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison. The Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center is an indoor

shooting facility that is open to the public. The range is located at 3921 Old Holly Springs-Apex Road.

The fee for the course is $25, and anyone may enroll. Membership in the range is not required. The course will start at 1 p.m. and end by 5 p.m.

Enrollment information is available on the Wake County website at www.wakegov.com/firingrange. For additional information citizens can call the trainers at (919) 303-5192.
