Sparky the Fire Dog will be there, will you? On Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department will host an open house in celebration of National Fire Prevention week. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the Department’s open house and this year aims to be bigger and better, adding a mix of demonstrations and interactive activities.

Expect a wide range of safety displays including an interactive 9-1-1 simulator, provided by Safe Kids, where children can role-play with a 9-1-1 operator. There will be a Teddy Bear seat belt demonstration that will drive home the message that seatbelts save lives. Peek inside the fire equipment, tour the station, get hands-on training with a fire extinguisher or watch the Explorer’s show off their training exercises. There will be several bouncy houses, an autograph trading card session, face painting and or course, Sparky the Fire Dog. The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department Open House, located at 301 S. Fuquay Avenue, promise firehouse-sized fun with lifesaving information. www.fuquay-varina.org.
