At Fuquay-Varina High School, the fall musical Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is now being melted, created, and formed to a chocolatey perfection. Director Jim Parks presents the story that reminds us that what truly matters is not possessions, but good values. Join the journey through the chocolate factory as Willy Wonka takes you to a world of “Pure Imagination.”
Everyone that is involved with the production has been working extremely hard to take the audience to a world of a chocolate and candy creation. Whether practicing lines, blocking, or vocals, every actor has been endlessly rehearsing. The technicians have been working hard as well to get the set built, the lights ready, and the costumes prepared. All this is in preparation for opening night on Thursday, Nov. 1. The students that work with the show always have a wonderful time.
“It’s like a large, talented family that acts, sings, dances, and laughs together,” says junior Emily Stamm, who is playing Mrs. Teevee, “Every single one of us supports and depends on one another!”
The set also takes a lot of effort, and every actor and technician come together on Saturday mornings to work at “crew calls” in order to create a set that is delicious and a sweet feast for the eyes.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will be playing on Nov. 1 and 3. There will be an evening show on both days at 7 p.m. and there will be a matinee show on Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. All shows will be at the Fuquay-Varina High School Auditorium.
