Richard Kent Taylor, 59, of Fuquay-Varina, died in Hospice care after a short battle with kidney cancer. Rick was born in Winston Salem in 1953 to joan B. Luther. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan, and mother-in-law, Coral Lee Howell. Rick was employed with ITT financial, Dechute Bank and Champion Home (Sumitt Crest). He had several special buddies - Dale Lackley, Bryson Preston, Noel Long, Hillard Spann and Dennis Parris. In 2004, Rick joined his wife, Gail, as a partner in Rainbow Home Interiors (flooring store). Rick enjoyed his friendships with his fellow builders and remodelers, as well as working in sales, meeting new people, his boat, golf Fat Harold’s and tailgating at Carolina. He leaves several treasured friendships at Bentwinds Golf and Country Club and a special thanks goes goes out to those there who watched over him.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Howell Taylor, of 14 years; father-in-law, Lenwood Howell; father, David Luther; siblings, Jonie Bame and husband Jeff; Candice Royal and husband David, Michael Luther and wife Jose, Robbie Johnston and wife Carmon, Jeffery Johnston and wife Kugsue; his special aunt, Barbara; eight nieces and nephews; dogs, Winston, Coco and BB; as well as special friends, Mike and Angela Rhodes, Durwood and Angela Lassiter, Bryan and Terri Howell, Earl Brown, The Fantastic Shakers Band and Sea Cruz.

A memorial service to celebrate Rick’s life was held at Bentwinds Golf and Country Club, located at 6536 Dornoch Place in Fuquay-Varina on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saving Grace/Animals For Adoption, P.O.
