Troop 255 participated in the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting.
On Nov. 17, the Apex and Holly Springs communities braved the cold and wind by celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. Girl Scouts of the past, present and future and their families participated in a day of activities and demonstrations.
Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears kicked off the event with a speech that motivated, excited and challenged girls to earn the Gold Award (the highest award in Girl Scouting). Demonstrators included the area’s Mad Scientist, the Holly Springs K-9 unit, Rince na h’Eireann (Irish dancers), STARS Theatre, Karate International of Cary and the Renaissance Faire. Attendees were able to break boards, play games from the last 100 years, make SWAPs (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) and compete in a cupcake decorating contest and more.
Juliette Lowe, the Founder of Girl Scouts, was even spotted and available for pictures. A fun time was had by all prompting the question: What will the next 100 years be like?
