The inaugural community cornhole tournament in Holly Springs brought in more than $4,000 on Feb. 2 along with the 72 participants and their families. The event benefitted the Wounded Warrior Project.

Among the participants supporting the cause were several veterans and active military service members. The event was held in conjunction with the MyWay Tavern anniversary celebration in downtown Holly Springs.

Event organizers, John Stallings and Greg Calleri, were inspired to arrange the event as means to show their children and children’s friends what it means to give back to the community and to those who have given back selflessly in military service.

“We would like to thank all of our sponsors, participants and the Holy Springs Warriors Y-guides tribe for making this a successful event. This was a team effort from our whole community and we appreciate everyone’s support,” Stallings said.

The host sponsor, MyWay Tavern, donated more than $1,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project as means of giving back to the community through their anniversary celebration. The event fell shy of the $5,000 goal, but Stallings and Calleri hope it will become an annual event.
