On March 11, approximately 3,500 gallons of sewage overflowed from a manhole adjacent to 1228 Old Honeycutt Road. The impacted area was washed down and any solids removed and disposed of properly.
It has been determined that the overflow was caused by an electrical/mechanical failure of the pump station equipment which has been repaired and is properly working at this time.
No detrimental impact to the stream or surrounding area was observed. The Division of Water Quality was notified of the event on March 11 and is reviewing the matter. For more information, contact the Town of Fuquay-Varina at 919-552-753-1013.
