The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Department was excited to host a Garden Party Fundraiser for Military Missions in Action. The Garden Party was on Saturday, April 17 at the Proctor-Gardner Home in downtown Fuquay-Varina.

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful yard at the Proctor-Gardner Home, which Marilyn Gardner, a committee member, graciously allowed us to use for this event. Fish ponds, beautiful azaleas, iris and other flowers in bloom, made the perfect setting.

As appetizers were served, door prizes were given out, including Military Missions t-shirts, water bottles, flags, quilted hangings, a Zaxby’s gift card and a Chocolate Bean gift card.

A Gift Basket Auction was held. The donated baskets included an Italian Basket with Daniel’s gift card donated by Fran Senter Baggs and Bobbie Asad, two lap quilts donated by Military Missions, a Coffee/Donut/Chocolate Gift Card Basket donated by Chris Amspacher, a Chocolate Basket donated by Jean Seabrooke, a Domestic Diva Basket including pampering items donated by Teresa Ennis and Jane Phillips, a Garden Basket prepared by Garden Hut and donated by Bobbie Asad, an Italian Dinner Basket donated by Nancy Randolph, a ‘Better at the Beach’ basket donated by Emily Cox and a ‘Your Day Your Way’ basket donated by the Fuquay Magnolias with an ‘A Night to Remember’ 3 hour chauffeur service donated by Meridian Town Car.

Becky Medlin purchased one of the lap quilts, and donated it back to Military Missions to be given to a soldier upon his return home.

Military Missions provides a much needed service to veterans that have serious injuries resulting in disabilities. Some of their services include home modifications to enable independent living for disabled veterans on their return from service, such as repairs of safety hazards, wheelchair modifications, access ramps, adjusting countertop heights and widening of doorways, plus numerous household improvements.
