The Region III Junior Olympic Championship was held in Greensboro, NC over four days. Region III consists of the top five athletes in each event from the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia and Washington, DC. The top three finishers from Region III qualify for the national Junior Olympics to be held in Sacramento, CA.

Brian Williams, the only qualifier who won’t be able to participate because the nationals do not include the 7-8 year old age groups used this meet as his national. In doing so Brian finished first in the 100 meters, first long jump, and third in the 400 meters. In each event he ran and jumped his best ever. Youth boys 800 meter runner, Robert Williams grabbed the silver medal. After approximately 400 meters it appeared that he allowed the field to pull too far ahead. But as he patiently ran one step at a time he was able to reel in all but one of his opponents and finish in second. Williams time of 2:09.61 is a new personal best and allstar team record. In the relays, the Allstars were able to advance the 4x800 meter relay (David Hamilton, Robert Williams, Noah Winstead, and Jamaree Murray) and the 4x400 meter relay (David Hamilton, Robert Williams, Theo McKinnon, and Jamaree Murray).

Other individual Allstars advancing include: Jaylon Holt, (first in the high jump and third in the triple jump) and Jamaree Murray (second in the 400 meters and second in the 200 meters). Jamaree is currently ranked #2 in the USA in 400 meters.
