Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Grove Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Shook officiating. A private burial will be held Wednesday in the Clinton City Cemetery.
Mrs. King, born in Harnett County, was the daughter of the late James Godwin and Callie Pate Welch. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, The Eastern Star, Rotary, and ABWA. She was a recipient of the ABWA Woman of the Year Award. Mrs. King was a former Register of Deeds of Sampson County, a former manager of US Cellular, a bookkeeper for 10 years at Clinton High School and a Hospice volunteer with Liberty Home Care and Hospice. Paulette cherished her family and was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors are: Her husband of 34 years, Leonard King of the home; five sons: Michael Paul King and wife Nicole of Clinton, Steven Brian King of Boone, Leonard Scott King and wife Billie Jo of Clinton, Timmie Maxwell King and wife Lesa of Clinton, Anthony “Andy” Ray Honeycutt and wife Kim of Clinton; one brother, Jimmy Wayne Welch and wife Dayle of Cary; three sisters, Linda Welch Sanford and husband Jim of Midlothian, Va., Gloria Welch Lockhart of Angier, Debra Welch Currin and husband Simpson of Fuquay; six grandchildren, Rachel Ann Honeycutt, Dalton King, Payson King, Auriel Hope Nelson, Carson Layne King, Marshall Grahm King.
The family received friends Tuesday evening following the service at the church and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Paulette King can be made to the Sudan Shriners Hospital for Children, 403 E. Front Street, New Bern, NC 28560.
