Support Military Spouses delivered shoebox gifts to military spouses at Ft. Bragg. Participating in the event were, left to right, Brady Rowland, Walmart district manager; Debbie Allyn, wife of Lt. Gen. Daniel B. Allyn, the commanding general at Fort Bragg; Ronny Hayes, Walmart N.C. vice president and regional manager; Missy Vimoto, wife of Command Sergeant Major Isaia T. Vimoto, command sergeant major at Fort Bragg; Diane and Dr. Steve Rumley, co-founders of Support Military Spouses.
Through Support Military Spouses Shoebox Gifts program, more than 1,000 Fort Bragg and Pope Field military spouses received Shoebox Gifts this month as early Christmas gifts.
“We understand the sacrifices that military spouses and their families make throughout the year, but especially during the holidays”, said Dr. Steven Rumley, co-founder of Apex-based Support Military Spouses. “The generosity and help of Walmart and Penske in support of our efforts helped make this possible for military wives and husbands.”
Support Military Spouses received plenty of great feedback from spouses. The items in the boxes were appreciated but so, too, were the hand-written notes of gratitude and support.
“I wanted to thank you for the shoebox I received,” said Ana Gay. “The note brought tears to my eyes, I appreciate the heartfelt words that were spoken.”
“Thank you all so much for the gift,” wrote Cassie Ray. “It really means a lot to so many of us that you are so supportive.”
Shoebox Gift Program Support Military Spouses, home of Shoeboxes for Military Spouses, is the nation’s only program dedicated to assembling, inspecting, and distributing Shoebox Gifts to military spouses. Support Support Military Spouses acknowledges the help and support of all their community partners, and sponsors.
The generosity of the Walmart Foundation, Penske, Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union, and Garland C. Norris ensured that over a thousand deserving military spouses received encouragement in the form of a Shoebox Gift to brighten the holidays.
