The following programs are being held at Wake County parks.

Art Exhibit, Feb. 9, and Feb. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. – The Seventh Annual “Mill as Muse” exhibition at Historic Yates Mill County Park will feature local works of art and photographs that capture the old mill and the beauty of the park’s natural environment. All 2013 entries will be displayed throughout this weekend event. Historic Yates Mill County Park is located at 4620 Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh.

Crowder by Night: Winter Owl Prowl, Feb. 15, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. – Go on an Owl Prowl at Crowder District Park and discover owls found in the Piedmont, what they eat, where they live and what they sound like. Dissect some owl pellets and practice your owl calls. Dress for cold weather. This event is for all ages and the fee is $5 per family or $3 per person. My Yard is Full of Birds, Feb. 18, 10 to 11:30 a.m. – Bring the family to Blue Jay Point staff to hear a bird story, try a fun bird activity and count how many different kinds of birds you can see from Blue Jay’s front porch as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. Homeschool and Track-Out Programs: Wilderness Survival, Feb. 26, 1 to 3 p.m. – Learn how to build a shelter, use a compass and practice some outdoor survival skills.
