Ronnie and Patsy Sebastian have celebrated over 50 Valentine’s Days together. Ron Sebastian said he knew his wife was going to be the love of his life when he first laid eyes on her over 55 years ago. Patsy Sebastian concurred with her husband and said she knew immediately that her husband was the one.

When reporters with Garner News, reached out and asked the community who they felt had the perfect love story, the Sebastian’s daughter Sherry Sebastian Capps immediately said her parents fit the mold. Reporters with Garner News agreed.

Although the Sebastians will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 2, Ronnie Sebastian still remembers the day he met the love of his life at school.

“I was cold and leaning against the radiator when she walked by,” Ronnie Sebastian said. “I asked my buddies who is that and they said they didn’t know. So I followed her to class and asked someone in her class who she was.”

The couple dated for five years and shared a love of the game of basketball. Both Ronnie and Patsy Sebastian played basketball and it played an extremely important role in their wedding.

According to the couple, they were attending a basketball tournament in South Carolina, and while they were there the couple decided to go to the courthouse to get married. Their reception was one they will never forget. They said after going to the courthouse, they went out to eat and the entire basketball team showed up.

Although memories of their wedding were clear, Ronnie Sebastian’s memory was not as sharp when it came to the basketball tournament they were playing during the time of their wedding.

“I think she won the game!” Ronnie Sebastian said.

The Sebastians said it was their family that provided the highlights of their 50 years of marriage. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Ronnie Sebastian said he loves his wife’s friendliness and her love of children. Patsy Sebastian said she loves her husband’s personality, his family values and the love he shows his family.

When asked what the key to a successful marriage was, the couple provided several pieces of advice.

Patsy Sebastian said family is important, but also said allowing each other to do what they want to do is the key to a successful marriage.

Ronnie Sebastian also said family is extremely important.

“Family first,” Ronnie Sebastian said when asked about the keys to a successful marriage. “And say “huh” a lot!”
