The Fuquay-Varina Theater Program has been hard at work preparing another wonderful piece of theater for all. “Once Upon A Mattress” is a comedic musical that sheds new light on the fairytale “The Princess and The Pea.”

The story takes place in medieval times, and is the tale of a Prince looking for his Princess while his Queen Mother, along with her wizard assistant, does everything to prevent it. The cast has been in rehearsals since December and is excited to present the show.

“The Once Upon a Mattress cast and crew aren’t just high school teenagers performing a school play; they are a family who work together to make sure that the show is the best that it can possibly be,” Senior Trevor Peters said.

“The techs have put a lot of time into the set,” Freshman Caitlin Pearce said. “The set takes you back to the time of royals and magic.”

The stage has been completely transformed to amaze the audience and take them into the classic story-tale.

“The actors and technicians have worked tirelessly with daily rehearsals and crew calls on Saturdays,” Sophomore Isaac Joseph said. “It’s hard work but we all pull together and love what we do.”
