Margaret Fadine Byrd, 76, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on September 6, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born June 29, 1936 in Bunnlevel, N.C., to the late Wilton and Elizabeth Salmon Byrd.

Margaret was gifted as an artist and seamstress and loved to travel. She retired after serving many years with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s department.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Jackie Hester (Randy) Menefee, Deloris Hester, Michele Williams and Jill Hester (Chuck) Davis; son, Allen Hester; brother, Jay (Patricia) Byrd, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Kathryn Nadine Byrd and Deloris Elizabeth Byrd.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at O’Quinn Peebles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bunnlevel Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial at Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel.
