Norman Dewey Austin, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty L. Austin.
He was employed as a truck driver for 22 years and as dispatcher for 10 years with Overnight Transportation Company before retiring. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
Norman is survived by his son, Ronnie Austin and wife, Nancy of Garner; daughters, Connie Austin and Jan Austin both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jamie Austin and wife, Christy of Raleigh, and Melissa Gardner and husband, Steven of Willow Spring; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Dalton; and sisters, Betty Griffin and Doris Austin both of Fuquay-Varina.
The family received friends on Thursday, December 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, located at 401 North Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
